Poets have always known this: Dickinson, Rilke, Moore wrote to each other the way others kept diaries, as a way of thinking out loud with someone they trusted. I grew up with that feeling. When I was younger we would write a letter to my Grandma each week and tuck a photograph into the envelope. It was slow, intentional and deeply personal.

I want to share that personal letter tradition with you.

It’s my way of sharing a little beauty and connection beyond the digital world, one stamp at a time.

THE LETTER

Each month I write to you personally, reflecting on the poem and photograph: how they came to be, what the creative process revealed, or a deeper thought that emerged. Drawing on the tradition of the poets I most admire, I will address each letter "My Dear Friend," carrying forward an echo of that long correspondence.

THE POEM

Enclosed with the letter is an original poem, written by me and inspired by a moment, an experience, or a place. You will be among the first to read it. Poetry creates an immediate intimacy between writer and reader, softening the distance between strangers, and this poem belongs to you before it belongs to anyone else.

THE ART CARD

Each edition includes an original photograph of mine, connected to the poem and designed to stand on its own. It's yours to collage into your own artwork, frame as a quiet visual prompt to pause, or send to someone and continue the tradition of sharing.

THE SECRET SURPRISE

Tucked inside each envelope is something unexpected: a small addition designed to complement the month's poem and photograph. It might be a reflection card, a bookmark, a recipe, or something else entirely. Whatever it is, it's chosen to offer a moment of delight and a doorway into your own creativity. 

THE JOURNAL PAGE

I'm on a mission to find joy in the every day and return to the things that actually matter. That is where magic lives, and where creativity quietly takes root. I want to share that with you, in the hope that you find your own pathway to whatever it is you're looking for right now: joy, stillness, creativity, or simply a moment that belongs to you.

It wasn't always this way for me but when I returned to my creative life, magic happened. And I don't mean the awards, the artistic collaborations, or the world premiere of my short film, though those brought their own joy. It's more about tapping into a part of me that lives in the moment, each and every day.

Can I track this mail?
As this mail is sent like traditional snail mail - in an envelope with a stamp, we don't apply tracking. But that's part of the fun! It's a lovely surprise when it arrives. All letters are shipped via regular letter post, which means that they do not include tracking.

  • Canada: 3-5 business days
  • United States: 5 to 7 business days
  • Rest of the world : 2 to 4 weeks
How much does it cost and when will I be billed?
Monthly mail is $20 (shipping included). You can sign up for one month or for an entire year (a special gift for annual subscribers). On a monthly membership, you'll automatically be billed on the same day you signed up, each month.
Can I gift this and sign up a friend?
You certainly can, what a thoughtful gift! Make sure you fill out our form so their name and address is correct! And make sure you inform your friend of their new subscription, so they can have joy in the anticipation!
Will I know what the designs will look like before they ship?
Sorry you won't as the creative process is underway each month and then is sent to you! That's part of the fun and the discovery of Pathways To Poetry Mail!
What if I don't like the design one month?
You can gift it to a friend! There aren't any controversial topics to make all monthly deliveries as universal as possible. The poems and art will reflect those found in my books and on my social media! No returns or refunds, sorry!
Is there a message on the back of the art card?
The Art Cards are blank so you can send it to someone if you like! Or write yourself a note to remember something inspiring or fun from that month!

FAQs: Shipping

What if I put the wrong shipping address?
Please send us an to mail@heidisander.com - so we can update your address for the next order. If you have already purchased the subscription or it has renewed for the month with the wrong address, the address update will not be retroactive. Send us an email to let us know so we can get it to the right place :)
What if my address changes?
Please send us an email letting us know what the updated address is. If you move and forget to tell us, we will not be able to retroactively send old mail to the new address once it has already been sent out.
How does shipping work?
Shipping is included in your monthly price!
How does this work for International Subscribers?
We offer international orders! Please note that international mail may incur minor customs fees based on your country's rules (usually none for low-value gifts). International orders may also take a little bit longer. Please allow 1-4 weeks depending on the destination.
When are the envelopes sent and what if I don't receive a month?
Your envelopes will be shipped on the first week of each calendar month. Please allow 1-2 weeks for delivery as the post office sometimes takes their time, but that's part of the fun with snail mail! If you do not receive your subscription within 2 weeks of shipping notification, please let us know! Sometimes mail can get lost and we will do our best to make sure you don't miss a month. Please allow 1-4 weeks for international orders.
What if I sign up at the end of the month, will I receive that month's shipment?
Yes! The envelope will be mailed to you for the first month you pay for.
